Top Ten Tuesday: First Books I randomly grabbed from my shelf

Surprisingly – as if – my bookshelves are not only filled with queer books, there are some classics, self improvement, crime/thriller, as well as cook books on there too. Among others.

The Prompt

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is all about grabbing random books from our shelves, so even I don’t know which books will be featured here right now.

About Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

First Five Books I randomly grabbed from my bookshelf

  1. The Once and Future Witches by Harrow Alix E.
That’s my current book, so it’s not that surprising I grabbed this one, is it? I thought it would be a book I wouldn’t review on my blog about queer books, but guess what? I’m already excited to tell you about this one, so expect a review soon-ish.
  2. Think Content by Löffler/Michl
While in theory, the content could be very interesting for someone like me the reality proves to be rather dry. Reading it has been quite a struggle but my work did profit from it, so it’s allowed to stay on my bookshelf.
  3. Antoni in the Kitchen by Antoni Porowski
I know you wouldn’t have guess it so I’m telling you it’s a cooking book! There are quite a few recipes marked to be tested sometime and I’ve already made others.
  4. The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe
I simply had to buy that one because it’s beautiful! I’ve already had a (bought second-hand) paperback series of Edgar Allan Poe’s works but I saw that tome – for lack of a better word – and I had to have it. I still didn’t manage to read all the tales, but I did read all the poems more than once, so there’s that.
  5. Beartown by Fredrik Backmann
Since it’s one of my alltime favourite series, it’s very easy to grab. I’ve mentioned it so many times, re-read it more than once, and I still did not review it. How? Why?

The first five books I randomly grabbed from my actual bookshelf. But since I also own a Kindle, let’s “grab” the next five ones from the virtual shelf, shall we?

First Five Books I randomly grabbed from my Kindle

  1. How to Love a Dragon by Lila Mina
I’ve already reviewed it, so let’s simply say this: I. Love. This. Book.
  2. This Monk wears High Heels by Kodo Nishimura
This is very interesting book incorporating Buddhism, Make-up, and coming to terms with one’s authentic self.
  3. Rookie Mistake by Anna Zabo & L.A. Witt
I know, I know. I have a thing for queer Ice Hockey books. I’m not ashamed, though, and embrace this interest of mine with open arms.
  4. His Quiet Agent by Asa Maria Soto
A book I’ve mentioned more than once and already reviewed. it still remains a stable comfort read (or listen, since I also own the audio book).
  5. Final Orders by Gregory Ashe
Also one of my comfort reads and an universe I really, really enjoy. I’m still hoping for a news series about Somers and Hazard because obviously 3 series with 18 books (what the… really?!) is not enough to satisfy my love for those two.
