As always this meme is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. Go and take a look at their blog!
I’m sorry, but I had to use Genie from Disney’s Aladdin. And now I’m sad…
But this week’s theme made me think of him and therefore Genie is featured in my post.
Please grant me the following wishes!
- I want the ability to forget everything about a book I have read so I can experience everything for the first time. And as often as I would like to.
- I want an unlimited supply of book money, so I can buy every book I or someone dear to me wants to read.
- I want the ability to judge a book rightly by its cover (never again will I be misleaded by a bad book with a gorgeous cover!).
- I want to speak every language there is, so I can read each book in the author’s words (translation is great but a lot of subtle things can get lost).
- I want enough room, so I can have my very own library.
- I want to meet all my favourite authors, preferably without making a fool out of myself.
- I want to be able to stop time, so I can read without other things interfering.
- I want autographs of the author in my favourite books.
- I want to travel to all the book conventions (that I am interested in).
- I want to never loose my love for reading.
Yeah… I really came up with a blank and had to think for a long time about my wishes. A wish blackout is what was happening. Did anyone else suffer from this? What are the wishes you would ask The Book Genie to grant you?

Hehe judging a book by its cover! Great choice, I am such a sucker for a pretty cover! I also love #4, that would be brilliant. My TTT

I was fooled by so many pretty covers…
I think something might have gone wrong with your link – at least I can’t click it? But I still found your list with absolutely no problems. 😉

Love your wishes! I just kept agreeing all the way down your list. I especially love #2, #4 and #7. There are so many things out there to read–we need more time. Thanks for sharing!

Now we only need to invent some device so we can have more time to read…

So much YESSS to number 4, there are many Chinese fantasy fiction I would LOVE to read but can’t because of the language barriers. Plus Japanese and Korean fiction gets some of the CUTEST covers ever, I want in!!

I know right? And even if it gets translated, the covers often are…meh… in comparison to the original ones.

Such a great list! I completely agree with all of these things, especially #10. (And I used the Genie thing too… but then I went to watch clips of Aladdin on YouTube and made myself sad.)

I was a little surprised how few bloggers used a picture of Genie…

Awesome list!! I agree on so many of these wishes, haha. Definitely yes for #2 and 7! And #8 is one I didn’t think of, but that would be great too. ❤

I know some authors are accepting books for autographs if you send them to them but that is a little expensive if you do that with all your books and it wouldn’t be the same as standing in front of them and telling them how much you loved the book…

I like the idea of No.1. It could be a great experiment – to actually see if you feel the same way the second time around. Obviously you’d have to make a lot of notes because you’re reading the book afresh – but even so!

Especially if you’re way older than back then or matured a lot. I read the HP series when I was a kid (at least the first books of it), so I do think different now. But I am sure I would love it just as much.. maybe more?

I’m really sad I’m only able to read german and english books… there are so many out there, which will never translated into those two languages, so I’ll miss a lot of great novels.

I can read Spanish but nowhere near the level of my English. How often do you get to practice your German btw?

One of these days I’ll learn how to enable more replies to comments. But not today.
So, Alex: German is my first language, so daily 😉 But I have to say I somehow read more english books than german… I thought about learning spanish as well, but I didn’t. Too much to do, sadly.

I know right? Of course it is nice to reread something and you know exactly when the good parts are coming (or that there are good parts) but still… there is nothing like the first time!

Number 1 would be cool: reading the Potter books for the first time again.

To be honest I was thinking about the HP series, too. Of course there are a lot of other books I’d like to read for the first time again, but those were really on my mind with that wish.
